I was seeing double in April and May.
Joshie and his friend Cedar share the same birthday month. In fact, they are only 5 days apart. When we are lucky enough to see them that time of year we do a double birthday celebration.
Depending on the day of the week their birthday falls on, my boys typically get 2 birthday meals. Sushi is the meal they request on their actual birth day.
And maaan, can they put it away. I remember when they were little and we first got them to start eating sushi. We thought it was so cute. Now I tell them they have to get a well paying job to support their sushi habit. (Apologies to their future wives)
Then on the Saturday that falls closest to their birthday we head out to Espetus, their favorite Brazilian steak house. I’m pretty much broke after birthdays are all over!
At least I had a few weeks to recover before heading into graduation time in May. For some reason, I thought I was being smart by planning the birth of my kids to be 4 years apart. I thought it would be fun that their graduations would be on the same year. What I didn’t think about is how their graduations would land on the same week. One on Tuesday, the other on Thursday. Oh My Gosh. We had people over for a meal before each ceremony then dessert at our house afterwards.

First, Joshie graduated from 8th grade on that Tuesday.
He’s still my baby, he’s still my baby, he’s still my baby…
Thursday was Alex’s high school graduation.
He’s turning into such a wonderful young man! But he’s also still my baby, still my baby, still my baby…
Do you know what I realized as I walked out of the high school graduation? 4 years from now, I’ll be doing the same thing…except it will be high school and COLLEGE graduations! What if they fall on the same day?!?!?! What was I thinking?!?!?!
