1. My poor cattle dog. Oakley got neutered last week. On Valentine’s Day, of all days. Surgery went just fine. However, he’s either been having a wacky reaction to the drugs or perhaps it’s something else. Lots of trial and error on figuring it out with his vet. He’s been yelping and whimpering while pooping, having poopy accidents, super itchy, sleepless nights, just miserable. Any ideas out here? (if yes, please tell) We’re still in the thick of things but at the very least we’re hoping to get him active and going again by this weekend. I miss watching him catch frisbees.
2. Have you ever had to give your incoming weekend guests a heads up like this the night before their arrival?Ya. That was for real. They still came though. They must really like us. 🙂
With all of the cattle dog problems and prepping for Graham meetings this week (more on that later), I did not have the usual time to obsess and make menus/to-do/activity lists and freak out about people coming to stay for a 3 day weekend. But do you know what? Playing things by ear really is okay! Especially with friends who say that watching hubby and I interact IS their entertainment.
It’s always nice to spend time with them. It’s a time when we can give ourselves permission to stop and have a little fun.
And I’ll let you in on a little something-that-we-wouldn’t-normally-do. Between hubby’s new round-the-clock work schedule and my…busyness…we hired a housekeeper to do the heavy cleaning for us that week…because honestly…we had to. We just had to. We just needed one less thing to do.
But I still cleaned everything up before she came. Yes, we’re those people. 🙂
3. Have you ever played a virtual reality game? It’s fun! Even for those who get wobbly from it like hubby & I.
4. Shrinking comes with aging, right? I look so short. I can’t believe how much these boys are growing. These are 14 year olds!
5. We woke up to a black-out this morning. Always fun explaining that to a special needs kid.
6. Based on yesterday’s meeting, we’re gearing up for another battle for services for Graham. But first I think I’ll hold on to this rare sense of feeling refreshed with spending time with friends and family.
